In a low income family (disabled too)..Can I get a grant to help me pay for an online course?

I just looked at ICS online learning website and the course I want to enroll on has a 拢600 price tag..this is way out of my league.

How can I learn from home cheaper or get a grant to help me learn from home please??

I'm not sure. Check the website of the institution offering the course to see if it mentions anything about grants/scholarships/bursaries. Failing that, go to your local citizens advice bureau or visit http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/EducationAnd... to find out about financial support for your studies.

Good luck!
Reply:Probably not.

Is it you who is disabled? If you cannot attend a un/icollege then theoretically your LEA can help with costs but this has diminished as universities have had to include disabled people.

If you are a carer of a disabled person then there is (or was) a fund for correspondence courses called something like the Princess Royal fund but I don't know if it is still giving out funding.
Reply:Your local JobCentre should be able to help with advice on courses and grants available. You could also have a look on the online JobCentre.

For example, I was an unemployed manual bookkeeper at few years ago and I needed to upgrade to SAGE computerised bookkeeping and SAGE computerised wages to stand any chance in the job market. The JobCentre helped me to do two short two-week courses at a local college (like Pitman College, not a big college) and I got a job quite easily after that.

New Deal at the JobCentre helps quite a lot if you look into it seriously.

All the best.
Reply:If you phone your local education authority they should be able to give you the answers you need. They will also be able to help you find the type of home learning that would suit you
