I would definitely start with eBay first because the customers are there. It's a great way to get started because we all have stuff to sell but once you get good, look at information products because then you can sell electonric items automatically.
Once you get enough cashflow, diversify your investment with a website that sells a NICHE product or service.
Become the expert or hire an expert to create the product and then sell it. once the product sales decrease, sell licensing rights to increase your marketshare and then master reprint rights which will allow you to cash out for your next venture.

Yes, you can on Ebay. There are so many people that make a good full-time income selling goods on ebay. It can be used, collectible, antiques, new, retail mark-downs, etc. Anything can be sold on Ebay. I've been doing it for a long while now.
