Can i file my 204-2005 income tax online through the program i used previously?
No.. you cannot use prior year tax software for e-filing.

But you can file your 2004 and 2005 taxes (back taxes) online.

Reply:No. You must use the software for each tax year so the software you used for your 2007 return is of no use for any other tax year. You can buy the software from the publishers' websites if you want to prepare your returns that way.

There may be sites where you can prepare prior year returns, but you cannot e-file them. They must be printed and mailed in.

You can also download the forms from the IRS website and file prior year returns.

Your mother having control of your assets doesn't get you off the hook for filing if your income exceeds the filing requirement amount. If you owe when you file the missing returns there will be substantial penalties for late filing and late payment of tax. If you have refunds coming there is no penalty for late filing. If you have a refund due for 2004 it's too late to claim that now. The final deadline for that was April 15th, 2008. You can still claim refunds for 2005 and 2006.
Reply:Online like e-filing?

You must file your returns and mail them to the appropriate IRS address. You will not be getting the refund for the 2004 Federal Tax Return, it is over the 3 years statute of liimitations, which ended April 15, 2008. You will still get the refund for 2005.

But all you had to do was call IRS at 1-800-829-1040 for the wage informaiton (w2/1099).
Reply:You'll have to file on paper and mail it in, since it's overdue. If you have a copy of turbotax or some other software for the year you are filing, you could use that to prepare the return but can't efile.
